CPCRN CORE & WORKGROUP PROJECTS
CPCRN members across Collaborating Centers and affiliate institutions regularly form cross-center projects to investigate areas of shared expertise within the Network. Expand and explore the Workgroups and Interest Groups accordions below to view complete listings of the Network’s current projects, as well Inactive Projects to learn about previous Network efforts. Though discontinued, these projects may be revived if renewed interest and resources become available.
The Network's current projects are broken down into two categories: Workgroups, which are comprised of investigators from two or more Centers who collaborate on a well-defined set of deliverables to meet goals around a common theme; and Interest Groups, which are semi-permanent collaborative efforts that dissolve once work is complete, or evolve to function as permanent Network entities, and are redefined as Workgroups.

Purpose
The Community Engagement Core is dedicated to working across the network to ensure that community voices and priorities are present throughout our cancer prevention and control research. It is currently composed of two projects. The first is the development of a Community Advisory Board Member Survey. The primary objectives of the survey are to identify the cancer research topics community members view as most important at this time, understand community concerns about cancer research, including funding threats and the relevance of research, and assess perceptions of how well researchers communicate the purpose and impact of their work. The secondary objective is to explore interest in and perceived benefits of joining CPCRN as a community member affiliate. The second project is a scoping review of reviews exploring the relationship between the social determinants of health and their impact on cancer treatment and survival outcomes. The Community Engagement Core is lead by Rachel Hirschey and we welcome new members and new project ideas.

Purpose
The Methods Core brings together expertise in systems and data science with implementation science to advance cancer prevention and care delivery research. Our work spans predictive analytics, simulation, and mathematical optimization to evaluate data-driven operational and financial impacts, as well as qualitative and implementation science approaches to guide ethical and effective AI/technology integration. Current projects include simulating the financial and workflow implications of at-home HPV self-sampling adoption, with future work expanding into simulations for other cancer screenings, as well as projects on AI ethics and coordinated implementation strategies.

Purpose
The Training Core is dedicated to advancing workforce development and building capacity to implement evidence-based cancer prevention and control strategies across the CPCRN network and beyond. The core leads training initiatives designed to equip public health practitioners, researchers, students, and community partners with the knowledge and skills needed to apply implementation science in real-world settings. Key initiatives include updating the Putting Public Health Evidence in Action (PPHEIA) curriculum, revitalizing the CPCRN Scholars Program, developing a network of PPHEIA facilitators, and supporting the Scaling What Works capacity-building program. In addition to external capacity-building efforts, the Training Core also provides internal training opportunities for CPCRN network members, supporting professional growth and shared learning across centers. The Training Core invites collaborators who are interested in shaping and delivering training initiatives, contributing their expertise to strengthen both the CPCRN network and the broader public health workforce.
